Port Blair, June 28: A comprehensive health check-up camp was organized by Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries at Fish Landing Jetty, Junglighat on Sunday, 25 th June 2023 from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. under the guidance of Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director, ANIIMS, G.B pant and Mr. Vikram Singh, Director, Department of Fisheries. A Multi-disciplinary team of doctors from various departments including Medicine, Dermatology, OBG, Community Medicine, Biochemistry & amp; Pathology , lab technician and Medical social worker screened more than 70 fishermen & amp; fisherwomen for Anemia, Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid disorders, Skin diseases and Gynecological issues in women as well as various other diseases prevalent in the community. Blood samples of all the participants were also collected for various tests like Complete blood count, sugar levels, Hepatitis B & C, Liver function test, Kidney function test, Thyroid profile & lipid profile to evaluate for presence of any of these disorders. The camp was organized with the purpose of assessing the health status of the members of the fishing community of Port Blair and screening them to facilitate early diagnosis and treatment along with prevention of complications.
