Port Blair, June 19: On behalf of SICKLE CELL DAY 2023 on 19th June 2023, The Composite Regional Centre- A&N Islands, under the Administrative Control of NIEPMD Chennai, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in association with School of Nursing, Directorate of Health Services, A&N Administration at CRC A&N-Islands, Brookshabad organized an awareness programme on “Necessity for the Awareness of Sickle Cell Disease to the community & how it causes disability in future” for the Diploma Nursing Student of School of Nursing, DHS, A&N Administration. The goal of this day is to recognize sickle cell anemia as a public health problem and promote education about this genetic condition.
The programme was chaired by Mrs. Hapsa Bibi, Vice Principal, School of Nursing, DHS along with the presence of Mrs. Mitha Biswas, Tutor and other faculties. Mrs. Saranyah, Rehabilitation Officer addressed the gathering with a welcome note.
Mrs. Mitha Biswas, Tutor, School of Nursing, DHS lectured on the symptoms of Sickle Cell Disease, Diagnostic and Management. Mr. T.Y.Abid, Lecturer Physiotherapy, CRC A&N presented a topic on Causes and Management of SCD. Totally, 45 nursing students participated in the programme.
Mrs. Affsa Bibi, VP, School of Nursing, DHS informed the students the importance of rehabilitation services for the persons affected due to SCD. The lectures were very much interactive and informative. Finally, Mr. Hmadri Sekhar Debsharma delivered a vote of thanks.
