Port Blair, June 14: The 45 days Chess Summer Camp 2023 which began on 1st May 2023 at Khalsa Public Sr. Sec. School, Gurudwara Lane, Port Blair concluded this morning successfully.
Altogether 110 young chess enthusiasts, majority who are beginners took part in the Chess Summer camp which was organized by the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) in collaboration with Khalsa Public School, Port Blair.
During the summer camp, a chess tournament was organized exclusively for the participants of the chess summer camp for different age categories in which Lithiesh Kumar, an under 10 boy emerged as the overall winner and remained undefeated in the tournament by scoring 6 points out of 6 rounds. Dr. Sarabajeet Kaur Jagpal, principal, Khalsa Public School, Port Blair, was the Chief Guest for the Closing ceremony who distributed medals and certificates to the winners of the tournament. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Dr. Sarabajeet Kaur Jagpal, principal, Khalsa Public School, Port Blair announced to implement Chess in School (CiS) project in Khalsa Public School (Primary) from the month of July 2023 onwards where the students of Khalsa Public school will study chess as one of the subject.
