Port Blair, Feb 12: Nehru Yuva Kendra Port Blair organized a Volleyball Tournament (Knockout) at JNRM Sports Ground today in Associated with Gram Panchayat , Hope Town and Zila Parishad, Bambooflat which has sponsored by Maharashtra Mandal, Port Blair and Rotary Club, Port Blair also Supported By WithYou NGO, Bambooflat.
A total of 22 teams participated in this tournament. On the occasion, Swami ShuddhananandSaraswati, Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Port Blair was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said the youth that sports play an important role in developing a healthy body and mind. There are many types of sports, which help in our physical as well as mental development. During continuous studies many times there is a situation of tension. In such a situation, sports are a better way to relieve this stress. While, Commandant Sanjay Anchalwar, Indian Coast Guard, Haddo was the guest of honor and he also said the youth on the occasion that sports keep the human mind happy and excited. Games develop the nature of following the rules and concentrating the mind.
All the physical education faculty of the sports department of JNRM cooperated in organizing this tournament Mr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, Mr. Amit Kumar Mandal, and Dr. Milan Kumar Kirtoniya, Mr. Rakesh Madhu, and Dr. Dwijesh Bhattacharya. Dr. Sunita Patil of Maharashtra Mandal was also present to grace the occasion.
The tournament will be played in two pools, In Pool-A,12 teams of Port Blair region and 10 teams from Pool-B Ferrargunj block will play separate matches at Panighat and the final match between the winning teams of both regions will be played at Panighat. This will help in creating a social unity and integrity among the youth of both the blocks. On 11th February 2023 Pool-A matches were played at JNRM Port Blair and on 12 February 2023 the tournament of Ferrargunj Block was held at Panighat, The final game was held on February 25, 2023 at Panighat.
Earlier, Gopal Ch Biswas, Program Assistant of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair welcomed the guests and made the youth aware of the purpose of the tournament and the aims and objectives of Nehru Yuva Kendra.
