Port Blair, Nov 14: For the second year in a row, a recordnumber of Indian students chose the United States to pursue highereducation. According to the Open Doors Report released today, almost200,000 Indian students chose the United States as their highereducation destination in the 2021-22 academic years, a 19 percentincrease over the previous year. Nearly 21 percent of the over onemillion foreign students studying in the United States are Indianstudents.
Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy, Gloria Berbena, said,“Congratulations to India on leading the globe in the number ofstudents choosing the United States. It’s clear Indian students andtheir parents recognize the value of a U.S. education, one thatprepares them to leverage their newly gained know-how to tackle theworld’s challenges and readies them for future opportunities, whetherthat’s in artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, orentrepreneurship and innovation.”
To assist Indian students, the U.S. Department of State offers freeadvising services to prospective students both virtually, andin-person at eight EducationUSA advising centers throughout India –inNew Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and two inHyderabad. All eight centers are staffed by EducationUSA advisors whooffer accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date information about
opportunities to study in the United States, helping Indian studentsfind the best program and fit from among 4,000 accredited U.S.higher-education institutions.
