Port Blair, Oct 12: Following incessant rain with gusty wind, a huge coconut tree today fell on a residential house situated at Nimbubagicha, near Chouldari, and damaged it fully.
As per report, the coconut tree standing on the loose soil at the backyard of the house of Mr. Narodh Halder, an old resident of Nimbubagicha, fell on the house in the morning hours today when he along with family members were inside his house. Thankfully all family members narrowly escaped as revealed by Mr. Halder, a fisherman by profession.
In wake of the situation, a large number of fishermen of the region have urged the A & N Administration and Fisheries Department to extend the possible assistance to this victim of natural disaster so as to facilitate fast reconstruction of the dwelling house damaged in the accident.
Meanwhile, members of Bhavani Youth Club and other residents of the area rushed to Mr. Halder’s residence and lent their helping hands to the victim, while the Ward Member of the area Mr. S. Pandian helped clear the fallen tree from the house, Mr. Halder said.
