Port Blair, Oct 12: Parakaram Team of Andaman and Nicobar Police known for their prompt and bravery operations, rescued a woman with her child from drowning from sea-shore near to Dignabad jetty.
According to reports, the incident took place at 7.30 PM today evening when the lady was spotted by some local fishermen to wade into the shallow waters of the sea close to Dignabad jetty reportedly to make attempts of committing suicide.
The local fishermen saw the lady with her child desperately trying to kill herself and her child who then intercepted the lady and tried to stop her, but she refused and advanced towards deeper sea.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the fishermen immediately called the Police control room. Showing their prompt response, the Parakaram team reached the spot immediately and the police personnel went into the water and rescued the lady along with her child safely.
Later the lady and her child were shifted to G B Pant Hospital, where the woman was admitted in ICU. Later, the medical sources confirmed that the lady and her child were out of danger.
Sources said that the lady is a resident of Atlanta Point, who, following some family disputes attempted to commit suicide in the morning hours also today, the report further said.
