Port Blair, Sept 23: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council Mrs.Kavitha Udhaya Kumar alongwith Mr. Aziz-Ur-Rahman, Sr.Vice Chairperson, PBMC participated in the National Mayor’s conference held at Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat. The National Mayor’s conference held from 20th to 21st September was organized by the Bharthya Janta Party (Good governance Wing). The conference was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendera Modi through Video Conference. In the inaugural address the Prime Minister highlighted about various developmental works around the Country and also said that Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities are now becoming the center of economic activities,and we all should focus on developing industry clusters in those areas.
Further he also exhorted that small vendors must get training to use digital payment system and also insisted upon the Mayors to take initiative to ensure the same. The BJP party president Mr. J.P.Naddaalso briefed the gathering at the conference.
Mr.Hardeep Singh Puri, the Minister forHousing and Urban Affiairs, GOI widely briefed about the Smart City Mission being undertaken in the major cities of the country.
The Chairperson also interacted with various Mayors of the states and took stock of the various best practices being followed by various Corporations the conference culminated on 21st September 2022.
