Port Blair, Apr 13: A 58-years-old lady was allegedly attacked with a machete by her Grandson after she refused to give money to him on Tuesday afternoon at Ranchi Basti, School line area.
As per details, the accused, a 23-year-old youth, was a habitual drinker who used to spend all his income on alcohol. On Tuesday afternoon when he had no money he asked her grandmother to give him some money and when she refused, the accused started abusing her.
Disturbed by such abusive behaviour of the youth, the grandmother went out of the house. Later when she returned after a while, the grandson attacked her with a machete because of which she sustained grievous injuries on her head, hands, and neck. Soon nearby people rushed her to GB Pant Hospital.
Later PS Aberdeen was intimated about the incident and an attempt-to-murder case has been registered against the 23-year-old grandson. Further details are awaited.
