Fire Service Day is observed on 14th April every year throughout the country to pay homage to those brave firemen who lost their lives during the Dock explosion at Mumbai on 14thApril, 1944 while discharging their duties.
This day is an occasion to acknowledge and appreciate the invaluable services rendered by firemen in saving precious human lives and property even at the cost of supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
Besides firefighting, A&N Fire Service plays significant role in fire prevention, fire safety and capacity building. Being the first responder, Fire Service plays an important role in disaster management and carrying out search and rescue operations.
In the year 2021, a total of 255 fire calls and 473 Special Service Calls were attended by A&N Fire Service and property worth about Rs. 28.36 crores was saved.
I congratulate all personnel of A&N Fire Service for their commendable performance. I am confident that A&N Fire Service will continue to serve the people of A&N Islands with the same zeal and enthusiasm in the years’ ahead.
