Port Blair, Mar 24: The District Administration in a special drive to administer oath of office to the newly elected Pradhans, members and elected Up-Pradhans in respect of Ferrargunj, Namunaghar, Mithakhari and Bindraban Gram Panchayats had convened a special meeting today on 24/03/2023 in their respective Panchayat Halls which was administered by Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman and Miss Yashaswini.B Assistant Commissioner (U/T).
In Ferrargunj Gram Panchayat Mr. Edmond Baa of INC elected unopposed even though a nomination was filed by one Mr.Sukdev of BJP which was later withdrawn and Mr. Edmond Baa of INC declared elected unopposed to the office of the Up-Pradhan, Ferrargunj G.P.
In Mithakhari and Bindraban Gram Panchayats after administering oath of allegiance to Pradhan and Members, Mr. Mohammed Jalal of INC and Thadius Kujur of INC respectively have been declared elected unopposed to the office of the Up-Pradhan wherein no other members filed the nominations.
In Namunaghar Gram Panchayat after administering oath of allegiance to Pradhan and Members, an election was conducted to the office of Up-Pradhan in which Mr. Sohan Pradhan of BJP was elected to the post of Up-Pradhan by a margin of 04 votes against Mr.Hemant Singh of INC.
The Assistant Commissioner, S/A congratulated all the Member, Up-Pradhan and Pradhan and requested the newly elected members to work for the betterment of their respective Panchayats.
