Port Blair, Mar 22: Heavy rainfall due to Low Pressure resulted in a landslide at 39 KM (Galathia Bay area) of Great Nicobar on Sunday evening.
As per details, on Sunday evening around 06:30 PM this land slide was reported from a place, which is nearly 6 KM away from a residential area in Shastri Bay (35KM). Luckily the road is not frequently used by the general public as it is a forest area. Hence the movement of the public is not affected by the landslide.
As per details, the Border Road Organization (BRO) and the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF), who are responsible for the construction of the road, will soon begin the repair work. Meanwhile, people have been urged to avoid visiting the area as the road, which leads to Galathia National park, has suffered heavy damage.
