Diglipur, March 20: As per report, a 32 year old female resident of Danapur under Mayabunder Tehsil was referred from RP Hospital, Mayabunder last night. G3P2L2 with 2 months of pregnancy was admitted to RP Hospital, Mayabunder with severe pain in abdomen, vomiting and giddiness. She was investigated and diagnosed as having a ruptured ectopic pregnancy with the help of ultrasound. She was resuscitated and immediately referred to CHC, Diglipur for further management.
The patient was received by gynaecologist at 10.30pm at CHC Diglipur in critical condition with low BP and severe anaemia due to profuse bleeding inside the abdomen following rupture of tubal ectopic pregnancy leading to severe haemorrhagic shock. The patient was directly taken to the operation theatre, an emergency LAPAROTOMY and SALPINGECTOMY was done to arrest the bleeding by a team of specialists consisting of Dr. Sulaiman, CMO, general surgeon, Dr. Bhaskar Sarkar, anesthetist and Mrs. Sheeja Kumari nursing officer. At present the patient is out of danger and is recovering at CHC Diglipur.
It was possible to save the life of the pregnant woman due to early diagnosis and early referral by Dr. Grace, CMO NFSC, RPH Mayabunder and timely intervention by Diglipur CHC’s specialist, nursing staff, OT staff, lab technician and also blood donors from PMB and police personnel who were waiting at CHC well in advance before the arrival of the patient.
Ruptured ectopic pregnancy is one of the obstetric emergencies, which if not treated early, leads to maternal death as told by Dr. SIDDARAJU, CMO, CHC Diglipur. The CMO also said that the posting of specialists such as gynaecologist, anesthetist and surgeon at CHC Diglipur are few among many proactive steps taken by A & N Admn to decrease maternal death and infant death, and which is the top priority of the administration.
Patients on the other hand have expressed their satisfaction with the health care facilities available at CHC Diglipur; however they believe that establishing a blood bank at CHC Diglipur will undeniably alleviate the problems being faced by the relatives of the patients needing blood in an emergency.
