Port Blair, Feb 18: The flying squad of Model Code of Conduct during ongoing checking, intercepted a person with Rs. 4. Lakh cash on Thursday night from Rose Valley Resort area of Burmanallah at around 7.00 PM.
As per details the cash was seized from an auto passenger, who reportedly could not give satisfactory reason for carrying such a huge quantity of cash.
According to the police the auto passenger is a resident of Kodiyaghat. A case has been registered at PS Pahargaon, which was later handed over to Director Panchayat and Municipal Election. Further investigation will be done by DPME, it is learnt.
The flying squad along with Andaman and Nicobar Police have been working day and night very efficiently, checking vehicles in random locations, to ensure there is no violation of MCC and no cash or liquor is transported illegally in these Islands for elections.
