Port Blair, Jan 12: Mr. Abdul Siddique, Ex-Pramukh, Mayabunder has urged DC, NMA to make necessary transport arrangements for people who are stranded at Port Blair, due to limited bus tickets being issued by Administration.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs. Anjali Sehrawat, IAS, the Ex-Pramukh informed her that since morning number of people from Mayabunder and other places of North & Middle Andaman had approached him from Port Blair saying that they are facing difficulty to get tickets in STS/ Private buses.
“As restrictions have been imposed on the general public, regarding the seriousness of the COVID-19 cases, the public services transports have been directed to ply with a capacity of 50% only”, he added.
He further pointed out that the people who had approached him are of all different sections such as patients, old-aged people, students, etc who had gone to Port Blair for other purposes. Now everyone wants to reach back to their houses, to their family before any sudden lockdown or passenger transportation service will completely be stopped from Port Blair.
As every individual in Andaman and Nicobar islands has suffered a lot in one or another way due to the COVID-19 pandemic earlier, he urged for immediate intervention of Administration in this matter. He demanded to make all necessary arrangements for all the people of NMA and Mayabunder, so that all the people who are stranded at Port Blair may reach back to their respective destinations before more travel restrictions are imposed, Mr. Siddique added to his letter.
