Port Blair, Jan 05: The Community Development Block, Campbell Bay organized a training on Tailoring for one month with effect from 03.01.2022 in the Recreation Hall, Campbell Bay with the support from Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, Port Blair.
On the occasion, Shri Aditya Kumar Asthana, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay inaugurated the training on tailoring in the presence of Shri Pradeep Kumar Singh, BDO/Block Mission Manager (ANIRLM) DAY-NRLM, Campbell Bay, Instructor, officials and the participants.
Altogether, 50 women SHG members from various SHGs of DAY-NRLM are participating in the training programme. This training programme aims to impart the basics of tailoring such as hemming, fine cutting of cloths, small dress manufacturing, embroidery and machinery use etc.
During, the interaction with the women and SHGs, the Chief Guest emphasized on taking the benefits of Training programme as a source of income generation to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women.
So far 34 SHGs have been formed in various livelihood activities in Campbell Bay Block and the Tailoring training programme has been arranged for the SHG members on their request by the Directorate of RD, PRI & ULBs.
