
Port Blair, Dec 26: Good Governance Day is observed annually on December 25. The day is also celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Swargiya Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was a great statesman, poet and a compassionate leader and very commitment towards providing transparent, effective and accountable governance to the people of this country.During his tenure as Prime Minister he not only improved the economy of India but also introduced social reforms to uplift the unprivileged section of the society, rise of telecom industry, introduce the new education policy and infrastructural development etc.
Good Governance Day was celebrated in these islands on 25th December 2021 at 94 Shakti Kendra along with Karyakartas and beneficiaries from various Government schemes.The state function was held at the BJP, Office, Port Blair on 25thDecember. The winner for the best Slogan/Poemon #My Idea for Good Governance 2022 were declared in the event along with prize distribution. 1st Prize – Rs 10,000/-was awarded to Mr. Roshan Sharma R/o Haddo, Second Prize – Rs 8,000/- was awarded to Mr. Rohit Nath R/o New Pahargaon&Third Prize – Rs 5,000/- was awarded to Mr. Nawaz Ali of Dolly Gunj, the competition was held for the age group of 18-25 years.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State BJP President recalled the efforts made by Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the development of the country and shared the working of present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and highlighted on the various successful welfare, Mudra,Skill India etc scheme.
Mr. Vishal Jolly, Past President, BJP A & N Islands also shared the working of present government and the local infrastructuredevelopment which have been laid down for our Islands viz. projects like North & Middle Andaman Bridge, Airport Project, OFC cable, Smart city projectsetc. Dr. Dev Das, Co-In Charge, welcomed the gathering and Smti. Sunita Sarkar,Master of ceremony, signified the importance of the event. Mr. Maheshwar lal, Co-In charge of Good Governance spoke on the motive of celebrating Atalji’s birthday as Good governance day. The event ended with the vote of thanks by Smti. Sabeena Mustaq, Districtin- Charge.
Few of the Labharti, namely Mr. Lalu Ram, Smti Soniya, Smti Vijaylakshmi and Smti Sundari were also felicitated in the BJP office, where they narrated their #MyStories.
