Port Blair, Dec 08: MV Sindhu is back in news for wrong reasons one more time. Just when everybody thought that the two masters of the vessel, MV Sindhu will be able to complete one long sailing of MV Sindhu successfully, the ship got grounded near Karmota Jetty today.
At this point of time when only two ships out of seven ships are available for the Southern Group of Islands, such accident of MV Sindhu raises many questions about the safety of passengers and also about the safety of the vessel.
As per details the ship was sent on its maiden voyage to Southern group of Islands recently with passengers but during its return journey, while leaving Karmota Port for Port Blair, the ship reportedly got stuck on rock surface near Kamorta Jetty.
As per details, the ship presently has two foreign going masters onboard, Capt Abdul Salam and Handler Capt Peethambaram then how can they take ship to shallow patch near to the vehicle ferry jetty, public questions.
Since the owner of the ship is President of India now people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are demanding a high level inquiry under the Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, in this regard.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that all ships are fitted with VDR (voyage data recorded), all bridge equipments and bridge microphones are connected with VDR. With the help of VDR we can easily find out what was the conversation going on bridge when the ship got aground.
As per last update the ship got floated at night and she is berthed alongside Kamorta jetty and will sail for Port Blair tomorrow, after necessary permission is obtained.
