Port Blair, Dec 01: Not all heroes wear cape. Six fishermen were rescued today by three brave Jet Ski riders, a photographer, and two lifeguards of IP&T, after the fishing dingy of the fishermen, capsized in the sea near Snake Island of Corbyn’s Cove area due to rough sea and high speed winds.
As per information received,six fishermen went for fishing from Junglighat Jetty on 23rd November 2021 in a fishing dinghy namely MV Roja. They reached Hutbay on Tuesday and later they returned to Port Blair after fishing in sea around Hutbay area.
After reaching Port Blair, due to strong wind and high waves, the dinghy capsized near Snake Island.
It is learnt that the six fishermen were rescued at around 04:30 PM from the sea by the brave Jet Ski operators namely Mr. Sonu, Mr. Naresh and Mr. Dilip, a photographer Mr. Sandeep and two Lifeguards namely Mr. Ashok K Nag and Mr. Dippen Dauka, who were present at the shore and rushed to help them.
The rescued fishermen have been identified as Mr. Rama Rao (42), Mr. K Vasu (53), Mr. K Kurma Rao (44), Mr. G Saranga (50), Mr. P Malyadri (52) and Mr. CH Raju (20).
As per the source, later the Police team of PS Aberdeen and a fire brigade team also reached the spot. All six rescued fishermen are presently admitted at GB Pant Hospital, further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, the President of the Andaman Sea Adventure Association has expressed his gratitude towards the brave heroes and said that he is proud of brave Jet Ski riders and others have risked their own life and rescued all six fishermen.
