Port Blair, Nov 30: Mr. M Vinod, State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has written a letter to the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration highlighting the problems of the residents, farmers as well as the hoteliers of Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep.
In his letter Mr. M Vinod has mentioned about the issue of day long power cuts. Mr. Vinod has mentioned in his letter that the residents, farmers, hoteliers and other entrepreneurs of Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep are facing constant day long power cuts. He added that taxes are being paid and electricity bills are being paid, but still people have to face such day long power cuts which is extremely disappointing.
Mr. Vinod also raised the issue of irregular supply of fertilisers, urea and pesticides to the farmers of Swaraj Deep and Shaheed Dweep through agriculture department.
Mr. Vinod further raised the issue of poor internet connectivity at Shaheed Dweep. He informed through his letter that BSNL has tried to improve internet connectivity, but private players like Airtel has completely failed in providing better internet connectivity.
Mr. Vinod has further demanded to restore the Rangat – Shaheed Dweep – Swaraj Dweep – Port Blair boat service just like in the Pre-COVID times for the convenience of the general public.
Mr. M Vinod informed the Chief Secretary that tourism, farming and allied activities are the main source of income of the residents of Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep. He further requested the Chief Secretary to intervene in the issues for the benefit of the residents, farmers and hoteliers of Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep.
