Port Blair, Nov 23: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Nov 24 to Nov 28. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rainfall in the next five days in Andaman Islands and in Nicobar Islands moderate rainfall is expected. The maximum temperature will be 29.1 to 31.5 oC with minimum temperature of 23.5 to 24.5 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 74 to 80 % and 66 to 76 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 11.0 to 25.4 kmph is expected mostly from South Easterly direction. In South Andaman ( Blocks: Prothrapur, Little-Andaman and Ferrargunj), farmers have been advised to prepare the land with drainage facility and sow the seed of radish and cover with soil for young leafy vegetables, apply 5 kg FYM + 100 g of neem cake per pit in upland area and sow snake gourd seed @ 3 to 4 seeds per pit, transplant the 35 days old seedlings of chilli at spacing of 60 X 60 cm after 10 ton/ha compost as basal application, make basin around the coconut and arecanut and harvest rain water as rainfall is expected during next five days and keep the poultry birds (day old chicks) under light preferably of 60 watt bulb at 1 ft above the floor.
