Port Blair, Nov 14: Mr. PK Halder, President of Andaman and Nicobar Democratic Congress and former member of Andaman and Nicobar Pradesh Council demanded “MO Potash” fertilizer at Little Andaman at the earliest.
In his letter addressed to Mr. Jitendra Narain, IAS, Chief Secretary, he informed that only DAP fertilizer is being given to farmers in Little Andaman nowadays and highlighted that only DAP will not serve the purpose. MO Potash fertilizer is very much required to apply along with the DAP, he added.
“It is very unfortunate that bulk quantities of MO Potash fertilizer have been already procured by the Agriculture Department, and is stored in Port Blair long back”, Mr. Halder pointed out.
He mentioned that the Monsoon is supposed to end and hence, the fertilizers are in need to be applied soon. He urged the Chief Secretary to look into the matter and provide MO Potash fertilizer to farmers at the earliest.
