Port Blair, Nov 09: Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President Pradesh Congress Committee highlighted various issues of these Islands infront of the Chief Engineer, APWD concerning with potable water supply system, repair and maintenance of Roads, construction of sea wall etc.
Mr Sharma accompanied with District President (North &Middle Andaman), Pradhans from Chouldari, Hopetown, Stewartgunj and office bearers of ANTCC from Kadamtala met the Chief Engineer, APWD in his chambers on 06.11.2012 where Mr Sharma stated that there is a scarcity of potable water in Chouldari due to less quantity of water being released by Defence from the MES dam, Chouldari.
Mr Sharma requested the CE to increase capacity of the water storage tanks at Stewartgunj, Tapu Basti & Azad Nagar in Stewartgunj Panchayat and P.K.S. Nagar in Hopetown Panchayat to ease out scarcity of potable water in the region. Mr Sharma also demanded to Supply water through pipe line to the residents of Anna Nagar in Hopetown Panchayat, Repair/replacement of old water supply pipelines and cleaning of water storage tanks.
Further Mr Sharma demanded to repairs the ATR from Shiv Mandir, Ward No.5 to Bachara Pahar Junction, Khriod Mondal house to Narayan Haldar house, ATR Junction 10 to Sulata Madhu house (3.15Km.) under the Chouldari panchayat, construction of road and seawall from Ram Mandir Check Post up at Chunna Bhatta to North Bay Plantation for providing road transportation to the tourist visiting the place. Widening of ATR from Rangat to Hawa Mahal in Middle Andaman, area development and beautification of Rangat Market area, earth filling and leveling for the portion of seawall constructed between Hopetown & Chunna Bhatta and providing railing on the seaward side of the sea wall to prevent accidental fall into the sea.
The Chief Engineer, APWD reportedly informed the delegation that he will visit these sites to assess the situation and assured that the grievances of people will be mitigated as early as possible.
