Port Blair, Oct 04: The District Child Protection Unit under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman organized an event at Balika Niketan on 4th October 2021 in collaboration with “PANKH”-Andaman, NGO.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka was the Chief Guest of the event. Sub Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman and the team of PANKH Andaman were also present.
The program started with lighting of the lamp with Saraswati Vandana. Book bank and Stationary bank was inaugurated by the Chief Guest sponsored by the Civil Society “PANKH”. In his address Deputy Commissioner South Andaman appreciated the initiative of Book Bank and encouraged the Children to develop the habit of reading.
The Deputy Commissioner further appealed to donate old books and reading material for the Child Care Institutions and help in creating Book Banks. Books need to be made a part of the environment a child grows up in and everyone should be encouraged to donate books since reading improves memory and empathy and also makes us feel better and more positive too.
The Program ended with small cultural program and vote of thanks.
