Port Blair, Nov 05: A Multi-Disciplinary and Multi-Specialty free Medical camp was held at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ferrargunj, on 4th November, which was inaugurated by chief guest Dr. S. K Paul, Director of Health Service, A & N Islands, in his address to a large gathering said he is ready to give logistics support for any thing concerning public health. Mr M.K Abdul Gafoor, President –in- charge of Humane Touch (NGO) welcomed the gathering. Mr. Shafeek, Pramukh, Panchayat Samity Ferrargunj, was the guest of Honour and he thanked Dr. S.K Paul for choosing Ferrargunj area for the free medical camp.
Dr Rohindra Lal President, ANIPPDA said many poor patients can’t approach specialist in private clinic due to various reasons this is a great opportunity to get treatment done at their area. The camp was organised by Andaman & Nicobar Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association (ANIPPDA) in association with Directorate of Health Services & Humane Touch (NGO) comprising of Dr.Rohindra Lal(Ophthalmologist), Dr.Selvaraj Gandhi and Dr.Dinesh, Dental Surgeons, Dr.Krishna Saha(Gynecologist), Dr.A. P. Bharadwaj(Pediatrician), Dr. Sudip Chakraborthy(Medical Specialist), Dr.Naveed Zia & Dr Sherin Jadwet Homeo-Physicians and Dr. Vidyanand(Surgical Specialist). A total of 522 cases were screened by various specialists, routine check up of Patients were screened for blood pressure, diabetes, some refractive error cases, one case of foreign body removal on eye, gynecological problems among women, and other common ailments of children, dental check up was done and advised on oral prophylaxis, some patients opted for homeo treatment & consultation on surgical case was done during the camp.
Healthcare staff of PHC including the Physicians, Pharmacist, Nurses and paramedical staff were there to guide them and make them aware of changes in lifestyle and diet. All those patients who needed medication were given free medication and told to follow up with regular physician in the area. This was the second project of ANIPPDA with in a short period of forming of the association.
The specialists with their vast and varied experience and expertise collectively contributed for this important role in this free multi-specialty medical camp. The main goal of this camp was to bring awareness and Preventative measures for some life style diseases. Patients in large numbers availed the opportunity to get health evaluations and testing done like ECG, X-ray and Echo at the venue itself & got free medical advice. Dr.Dinesh, General Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association (ANIPPDA) proposed vote of thanks for the great enthusiasm shown by Humane Touch (NGO) for meticulous planning and execution which was widely appreciated by one and all and on behalf of ANIPPDA members thanked Directorate of Health Service and the staff of PHC ferargunj, and Mr Sunil, Pradhan F/gunj & all panchayat pradhans for such an excellent arrangement, because of which patients have turned up in such overwhelming numbers.
