Port Blair, Aug 09: The PHC Baratang seems to be totally neglected by the Director of Health Services as even after repeated requests the faulty Generator Set of Primary Health Center of Baratang was neither repaired nor replaced by the Department, since last nearly three years.
Former PRI members and media persons had earlier highlighted about this issue in several occasions but it seems that the Director of Health Service has decided to bring bad name for the Lt. Governor of ANI and Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration by not listening to the problems of public.
Grassroot leaders alleged that the DHS does not reply properly over phone even he refused to give a comment to Andaman Sheekha reporter over phone yesterday on issues, related to PHC Baratang.
According to former PRI members, patients and staffs of PHC Baratang are suffering heavily as the entire region witnesses frequent power cuts and in case of power cut entire Hospital remains under darkness. “Worst sufferers are admitted patients who have to struggle with mosquitoes and darkness along with their ailments,” said a former PRI member.
When contacted former Up-adhyaksh of North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mr. R Alager Swami requested the Secretary Health to provide a new Generator Set for PHC Hospital on urgent basis.
Former Pradhan of Nilambur, Mr. Roy George and Up Pradhan Mr. Satish Kumar also raised this matter several times in past but till now nothing has been done to provide a new Generator Set for Baratang PHC.
Former PRI members told Andaman Sheekha Daily that if Generator Set is not provided to PHC Baratang soon, then they will organize a massive dharna at Baratang Islands against the DHS.
This is worth mentioning here that recently residents of Tushnabad and nearby areas had organized a protest infront of PHC Tushnabad demanding for generator set.
