Port Blair, Aug 04: Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are an important and effective tool to promote women empowerment, social mobilization, and financial inclusion in rural India. Recently, an increasingly large number of digital tools have been emerging and holding promises of accelerating women empowerment, enhancing the efficacy of existing initiatives, providing avenues to improve knowledge, and creating new opportunities for women to connect. With the same thought, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM) attached to Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Port Blair has organized an Orientation Programme for “Registration on GeM and FSSAI” by State Programme Manager (Livelihood) and Domain Expert IT.
In the training programme, a total of 30 SHG members of the DAY-NRLM scheme from C.D.BlockFerrargunj participated along with the Cluster Coordinators of the same Block. The training was on providing orientation on platforms like GeM, for registration, sale of their handmade products and sharing knowledge with the SHG women on packaging, marketing, and processing of Agri-Products.
The ANIRLM is providing livelihood training to the SHGs as per their demand so that they will empower and can earn a better livelihood by selling their products. ANIRLM aims to alleviate rural poverty and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the rural poor, especially for rural women. The basic motto behind this programme is to empower women through Self Help Groups and make them self-sufficient.
