Port Blair, Aug 03: The District Administration in its drive against encroachment on Government revenue land in the South Andaman District has been carrying out eviction drives during the last few days.
In continuation to this encroachment eviction drive was carried out by the revenue functionaries at Radhanagar, Swaraj Dweep, in the presence of Assistant Commissioner (Swaraj/Shaheed Dweep). An area of around 2.50 hectares of Government Revenue Land was been restored to its original status with reference to Sy.No 67/1. Around 1900 arecanut sapling were removed from the Government land.
Similar eviction drives were also conducted by the revenue field functionaries at Attam Pahad and at Matura village. 02 nos. temporary structures were removed and approx 400 Sq.mtr. Government land was restored at Attam Pahad. Whereas an area of 3200 sq. mtrs of revenue land in Sy.No.108/7 was also restored at Mathura village.
Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) lauded the efforts of the revenue field staff and further cautioned the general public to refrain from indulging in such illegal encroachments. He has requested the public to come forward in case of any inquiries or information regarding such illegal activities and can pass on such information to the District Control Room on the following numbers 03192-240127/1077.
The revenue department as a custodian of all government land will continue its efforts to protect land from illegal encroachments by conducting such drives.
