Port Blair, Oct 31: The Directorate of Health services has organized Awareness Programmes on Breast Cancer to celebrate the Breast Cancer awareness month during entire October 2012 and to create awareness among general public about the risk factors, Diagnosis, symptoms and prevention of the disease. The programmes were conducted at Anganwadi centre Haddo, UHC Dilanipur, UHC Junglighat, UHC Shadipur, UHC Dairy farm, Sub.Centre Prathrapur, Anganwadi centre Buniyadabad, Anganwadi centre Prem nagar, Anganwadi centre Dairy farm and Anganwadi centre Mazar pahar. The programmes were attended by Antenatal mothers, Lactating mothers, Adolescent girls, Anganwadi workers and women in general of the local areas.
On the occasion, the Officials from State Health Education Bureau and State Family Welfare Bureau of the Directorate of Health Services delivered talks on breast cancer and highlighted early detection of Breast cancer and the techniques of self detection method by all ladies of any lymp in the breast.
The speakers informed the gathering that Breast Cancer has many types that can grow and spread quickly even at a relatively early stage of the disease. The most common types of breast cancer that cause one or more single solid tumours in either or both breasts.
Further talks on Child health care, small family norms, Importance of Breast feeding, ill effects of Tobacco use, Personal hygiene and environmental sanitation also been given by the Health Team.
