Port Blair, May 13: Yesterday night at around 12:45 AM a fire call was reported from Phongy Kyong area of Port Blair city but due to timely intervention of Fire Services a major disaster was averted.
After receiving call immediately a fire tender from head quarter and one fire tender Marine Fire Station, with water browser reached the spot to control the fire with 1 hour.
As per information at around 12:45 AM the fire was reported from a RCC G+1 house in first floor.
A neighbor reportedly saw flames coming from the first floor of the house and immediately the neighbor called the fire control room.
Because, Phongy Kyong is a highly congested area and the house was nearly 150 meter away from main road, Fire team had to use 9 hosepipe connections to reach the house and control the fire on time. Nearly Rs. 50,000 worth property was destroyed by fire, it is reported. A team of 12 fire fighters controlled the fire under the direction of Inspector Sadhu Khan, Inspector Headquarter.
