Port Blair, Apr 13: An accident case was reported yesterday in Police Station Pahargaon where a truck driver allegedly crushed a man with truck at KRP Crusher Brookshabad. As per reports the driver was under influence of alcohol.
According to report, yesterday evening at around 05:15 PM a man namely Mr. Eric Lakra 41 years, a resident of Brichgunj, was working at the stone crusher site, when a truck fully loaded with stone chips, allegedly crushed the man.
It was learnt that Mr. Lakra was standing behind of the truck after loading stone chips, when the truck driver reversed the truck suddenly, which lead to the death of the victim.
People present nearby rushed him to the G B Pant Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
As per sources a case has been registered in PS Pahargaon against the driver for rash and drunk driving and the driver namely Mr. Francis Ekka 35 years, a resident of Brichgunj was arrested.
Meanwhile, the DGP of A&N Islands has also twitted about this matter and wrote that “DRUNK TRUCK DRIVER CRUSHES WORKER TO DEATH: Francis Ekka, 35 years, crushed Eric Lakra to death under rear tyre of truck at 5.15 PM on 12 April under Pahargaon PS. At the time of incident Truck driver measured 60.9 mg/100 ml on alcometer. WE WANT DRUNKEN DIRVERS TO BE IN JAIL.”
