
Port Blair, Mar 26: Continuing with its endeavor to protect life at sea and fulfill its charter of duties Indian Coast Guard yet again carried out two medical evacuations on 23rd and 25th Mar 2021 from Afra Bay. At about 1230hrs on 23 Mar 21 Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 10 received a message from AC Office Campbell Bay for medical evacuation of a patient namely Patrick, who was suffering from stomach pain, cough and continuous vomiting from last 15 hours.Administration expressed their inability to depute local vessel due to technical issue. Hence, ICGS C-150 was deployed on a very short notice for evacuationof diseased fromAfra Bay. The patient was taken onboard after Rapid Antigen Test and was brought to PHC, Campbell Bay for further medical management.The patient was attended by Coast Guard Medical staff during the passage onboard Coast Guard Ship. The condition of the patient was reported to be stable.
Again on 25th Mar 21 Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 10 received another message from AC Office Campbell Bay for medical evacuation of 02 patients from Afra Bay namely MissSanyugta and Mrs Henry who were suffering from stomach pain, fever and continuous vomiting. The administration requested Coast Guard for evacuation of patients due to non-availability of DSS vessel. On receiving the information, Indian Coast Guard Ship C-150 was deployed at short notice for evacuation of patients. The patients were taken onboard after Rapid Antigen Test and were treated by CG Medical team en-route to Campbell Bay. The patients were handed over to PHC, Campbell bay at 2215 hrs on 25 Mar 21 for further treatment. The swiftness and prompt response by Indian Coast Guard resulted in saving 03 precious lives in last two days. The Coast Guard Ship carried out successful Medevac despite non conducive sea and challenging weather conditions. Once again Coast Guard provided solace to the needy in true spirit of its motto ‘VayamRakshamah’ which means‘We Protect’.
