Port Blair, Mar 22: Central Crime Station in its continuous crackdown against illegal Narcotics trade in A&N Islands arrested an air passenger who brought 1.4 Kg of Ganja from Kolkata by Air India flight.
On 17/03/2021, acting on a specific information from reliable source that one person Mohd. Shakir R/o Mithakhari will be arriving from Kolkata to Port Blair by Air India carrying ‘contraband ganja’ concealed in his bag. A raiding team comprising of SI Bisavjeet Prasad, HC Sanjay Kujur, PCs P.K. Mondal, K. Rajendran and Mohd. Imran deputed at VSI Airport and trap was laid at parking area near VSI Airport Exit gate. The team intercepted Mohd. Shakir and recovered 1.4 Kg of illicit ganja from his possession. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Sh.Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID). Further, investigation to arrest the suppliers of Ganja and their distribution network is on. Further, arrest and seizure are likely.
