Port Blair, Mar 08: On the day when World is celebrating International Women’s Day, Ms. Meena Prakash has taken over the charge of Doordarshan Kendra, Port Blair as Head of Programme.
She is already holding the charge of Head of Programme (HOP) of All India Radio, Port Blair including the Primary Channel and the one and only FM channel of these Islands.
HOP of local DD is an additional charge bestowed upon her as no Programme Officer is posted in DD Port Blair after Ms Jolly Sirkar relinquished Office on 30/01/2021.
Ms Meena Prakash is the first Programme Officer in the history of Andaman Nicobar Islands to hold the charge of Programme Head of both DD and AIR both.
She is born and brought up in these Islands and had an incredible career as a Programme Officer in All India Radio for the past around three decades.
On this International Women’s Day a daughter of this soil holding the charge of two most powerful media units of these Islands is an incredible feat, which no one has accomplished before.
