Port Blair, Feb 23: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to resume the ferry service between Saheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep and Rangat and vice versa as it used to exist prior to COVID-19.
He informed the Chief Secretary that the residents of Saheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep who intend to go to the villages in Rangat Tehsil for various purposes such as marriage functions, meeting with their family relatives and for transportation of vegetable etc. are facing great hardships and because of transportation problems, their earning mode on vegetable crops for their livelihood is also badly hit.
Further, to visit these respective places, they are required to visit to Port Blair and which is not only inconvenient for them but also extra burden of expenses towards journey and stay.
