Port Blair, Dec 29: The Andaman Moplah Service Organisation (AMSO) has demanded for RT-PCR testing facility at Andaman Bhavan situated at Chennai, Kolkata, Vishakhapatnam and New Delhi for the Island bound passengers from Mainland to Port Blair.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Abdul Siddique General Secretary (AMSO) said that the passengers travelling from mainland are facing difficulties to find an ICMR approved lab and get the testing done in a time bound manner. Because the Islanders and other incoming passengers are not aware of the local facilities available at the State level, a large section of the people are facing inconvenience. Hence he demanded RT-PCR testing facility at Andaman Bhavan situated at Chennai, Kolkata, Vishakhapatnam and New Delhi for the convenience of public.
Mr. Abdul Siddique however, lauded the Administration for the remarkable stand taken to allow incoming passengers from mainland India with only negative RT-PCR report.
“This in effect can save the Islands from the spread of Novel Corona Virus and the new variant of the virus as being reported to be spreading in parts of the World. The decision taken by the Administration is rightly for the benefit of the Islands and boosting of economy in the Islands,” he said in his letter.
