Port Blair, November 11: The claim of hundreds of people still stuck in the Little Andaman Islands has been refuted by the District Commissioner South Andaman.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the District Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr. Suneel Anchipakka said that recently two vessels were sent to the Little Andaman Island which came to Port Blair in its fullest capacity. “There cannot be any chance of people being stuck there and hence such claims are baseless,” said Mr. Anchipakka.
However, if anybody was unable to board the last two vessels in the past, they can board the ship scheduled to sail on the 21st of November, 2020.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that there were issues with the students as they found it difficult to travel to Port Blair for counseling, to cater to them the District Administration sent a panel of professors via helicopter to conduct counseling at Hut Bay. This was done to ensure safety of students of Little Andaman.
Earlier, few residents and social workers of Little Andaman had claimed that around 500 people are still stuck in Little Andaman Island for the last 05 months.
