Mayabunder, November 08: Vigorous efforts have been made by the District Police of North & Middle Andaman to curve the menace of alcohol and drug in the district, and the same will be continuing in the days to come; said Superintendent of Police, North and Middle Andaman, Mr. Vichitra Veer, IPS.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha recently over the phone, Mr. Vichitra Veer said that since September 2020, 60 cases have been registered against bootleggers, and the huge seizures of drugs made last year have almost controlled the drug menace in the district.
“Nowadays we hardly receive any complaints of drugs in the district, to some extent lockdown has also broken the supply chain of drugs in the district and if at all we receive any inputs on drug peddling we won’t let any stones unturned to put an end to the smuggling,” said the SP.
While talking about Corona, Mr. Vichitra Veer said that the Police teams in the district tried all possible way by organizing campaigns to spread awareness among people.
“It is a collaborated effort with the district administration because of which we are able to take control over the recent spread of cases in the district,” the SP added.
He finally said that various schemes launched by the Director-General of Police like Police Mitr and other schemes helped in making a friendly relation with the people of the region with police personnel.
“The positive coverage that we got in the All India Radio and other print media also helped to establish a positive relationship with the people, also the loopholes highlighted by the media helped us to improve the system,” Mr. Vichitra Veer finally added.
