Port Blair, Nov 02: Following the success of the first free mega health camp and on requests from the public, another free health camp was organized by KHV & renowned Social Worker of ward No. 19 Mr. N Venkat Ramana on 1st November, Sunday from 10.00 AM to 01.00 PM. More than 200 residents in and around Pathar Gudda benefitted from free mega health camp
The health camp was inaugurated by lighting a traditional lamp by Dr Ashish Kumar Mandal, Director, ANIIMS. The Guest were honoured with shawls and bouquets by the organizers. The ANIIMS team was headed by the Director Dr Ashish Kumar Mandal, MD (Pathology) accompanied by Dr. Shilpa Samaddar, Dr Ajay Raj, Dr Aneesh Mohammed, Dr Srikant, Dr Sherya Barik, Dr Emant and Dr Vincky and Dr Manisha.
Mr Durga Prasad Tiwari, District President welcomed the doctors. Special invitees were Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Ex MP & Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President of Bharatiya Janta Party. Mr. B P Ray appreciated Mr. N. V. Ramana’s work during the COVID crisis. He highlighted that Mr. N Venkat Ramana distributed free ration items in his ward. Mr. Saurabh Singh State General Secretary spoke about the achievements of KHV in islands. The Director of ANIIMS threw light on many aspects with regard to Covid 19 and guidelines to be followed in maintaining hygiene. Mr. Ajay Bairagi, briefed about the features of the Fit India Movement Plan of Mr. Narendra Modi Ji, Hon’ble Prime Minister Of India. Concluding the camp, Mr. N Venkat Ramana thanked the doctors and said “this is the first time that a health camp has been organized where 08 doctors rendered their relentless service”. Mr. Saran Singh, President, Keshariya Hindu Vahini gave the Vote of thanks. In addition to this, free Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and vital parameter were checked and people were advised medical follow up accordingly to create awareness about diabetes and hypertension which is one of the most worrisome health issue prevalent in this region. All safety procedures were followed as per protocol and GoI guidelines during the camp. People participate with much enthusiasm. The Kesariya Hindu Vahini would conduct more health camps for the well being of the public. More camps are planned tentatively to be conducted in Phoenix Bay, Shadipur and Haddo with the help of renowned social workers of that area. KHV has felt that the public residing in rural pockets too are in direct need of medical help. Hence KHV has decided to conduct camps in the rural areas in the days to come.
Organising a health camp has proved to be a boon for the public as many people were reluctant to visit hospitals fearing COVID infections. With this camp they had a thorough check-up and were advised follow ups as per a communication received from Mr. Saurabh Singh, State General Secretary, KHV, ANI.
