Port Blair, Oct 15: In view of detection of a number of COVID-19 positive cases in Diglipur, the District Administration is taking various proactive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in N&M Andaman District. As part of the same to take the stock of the situation, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary(Health) alongwith Deputy Commissioner (SA) presently holding the charges of DC( N&M) visited Diglipur on 14.10.2020 alongwith medical experts. Subsequently, 02 Containment Zones have been declared to restrict unnecessary movement of people and thus to contain the further spread of infection.
For augmenting the basic requirements sufficient quantities of pulse oximeters, thermal scanners, Masks, Sanitizers, face shield, hand gloves and phenyl have been sent through helicopter and state transport buses.
For strengthening field surveillance, teams of Asha and Angawadi workers have been formed and they have already started door to door surveillance of ILI/SARI cases. The symptomatic cases are being followed up through telephone by the staffs of the Emergency Operation Centre, which include 02 specialist doctors.
A team comprising of Assistant Commissioner (Diglipur), Tehsildar, BDO, Dy.SP, CMO, Inspector Civil Supplies have been formed to manage the COVID-19 situation in the containment zones. COVID Medical kits have been prepared and door to door delivery of medicines has been started especially in containment zones.
Testing has been intensified and the same of immediate contacts of COVID positive cases and symptomatic cases is being done on priority.

Further, the general public is being advised to follow the two GOLDEN PRINCIPLES of COVID-19: (1) Wear masks properly (2) Maintain social distancing/Do Gaz ki Doori.
