Baratang, October 14: Road to Khatta Khari area from Rajat Garh village of Baratang Island could be a reality soon, as the tender for construction of the road to Khatta Khari village has been uploaded online by the Andaman Public Works Department yesterday.
Although the construction of the stretch had started long ago but the contractor reportedly left the work in half after attaining some losses.
As a result people living in remote villages around Khatta Khari have been facing great difficulty in commuting to Bazaar or Hospital areas.
However, the consistent approach with the authorities by Mr. R. Alager Swamy, the former Up-Adyaksh, North Middle Zilla Parishad, and other PRI members of the area have yielded fruitful results as the re-tender notice for construction of the aforesaid stretch has been uploaded.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. R Alager Swamy, former Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman and also the Zilla Parishad member of the area said that whenever he visited the Khatta Khari area during his tenure the only question the residents asked was about the construction of the said road.
“The demand was very genuine as the residents faced enormous difficulties to carry luggage till their homes. Worst sufferers were students and patients,” said Mr. Swamy.
The entire residents of the area have expressed their sincere gratitude to the administration for taking their demand into consideration.
“We hope that the tender process, which will be held on 06-11-2020 will be a success and soon the construction work of the road starts and continues until it’s completed, unlike the last time,” said a resident of Khatta Khari.
Mr. R. Alager Swamy, former Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman, Mr. Roy George, Ex-Pradhan, Nilambur, Mr. Sathish, Ex-Up-Pardhan, Mr. Manoj Barla, Ex-PRI member, Mr. Jonsion, Katta Kari villager and other villagers of the area have expressed their gratitude towards Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer of APWD for this tendering process.
