Port Blair, Oct 09: On one hand, the roads in the Port Blair city that don’t need any attention are re-conditioned again and again, while, on the other hand, the road, which needs immediate attention of the authorities, left in limbo, allege residents of Bambooflat region.
One such road in the South Andaman District is the stretch between Bambooflat to Shoal Bay. According to residents of the area, there are thousands of potholes on the stretch, “the road is best to get a massage free of cost,” said a resident of Shoal Bay.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, a resident of Shoal Bay said that the last time when they sat on a strike, assurances were given by the authorities that within a month the job to revamp the stretch will commence, “now it’s going to be a year, and nothing happened, the authorities are only concentrating on filling up the potholes that too which are larger in size,” he added.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Ex-Zilla Parishad Adhyaksh, South Andaman, Mrs. Mariyam Bibi mentioned that she is continuously following up with the higher authorities of the Andaman Public Works Department and requesting them to repair the following stretch as early as possible.
“I met the SE, APWD 15-20 days back and after that, the machine for constructing the road has been brought here, I was assured that once the rain stops, the work for the aforesaid stretch will start, hope that the assurance given this time will be fulfilled,” said Mrs. Bibi.
