Port Blair , September 30: As the situation in the islands are gradually getting better, the Dr. Navlendra Kr. Singh Director of Transport, Directorate of Transport, A&N Administration has released an order wherein guidelines for the operation of passenger Auto-rickshaws in the islands are mentioned.
According to the order issued not more than two passengers are permitted to travel at any point of time in any autorickshaw for maintainability of social distancing.
Sanitization of the Autorickshaw shall be carried out by the driver after every trip using the prescribed sanitizer.
Wearing of face cover by the driver as well as passenger is compulsory while travelling. Driver shall ensure that the passengers would wear mask properly
Further it was mentioned in the letter that, any person violating these measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Disaster Management. Strict penal action will be taken against the vehicle/ permit owners for violation of any of the conditions without any leniency which may lead to the cancellation of permits.
