Port Blair, September 29: The member, UT Commission for protection of Child Rights, Mrs. Sampa Banerjee, has requested the Secretary Education, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands to upgrade the Secondary School (English Medium) of Swaraj Dweep Island to Senior Secondary level.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary Education, Mrs. Banerjee stated that the students from the Island are forced to continue their Senior Secondary studies in the same medium at Port Blair, leaving their home town.
“Due to the pandemic, transportation medium of interstate and intrastate traveling has been badly hit, along with the accommodation facility which affected the students, also, at a time, parents are not willing to send their children away from their home,” said Mrs. Banerjee.
Therefore, she finally requested the Secretary Education to do the needful for the betterment of students and their future.
