Port Blair, September 20: The Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman Mr.R.Alagarsamy has requested the BSNL to depute a technical team to Baratang Island to rectify the network connectivity issues.
In a letter addressed to the Chief General Manager, Mr Murali Krishnar,BSNL, Andaman Nicobar circle, Mr. Alagerswamy said that nearly 02 months have passed since commissioning of CANI OFC submarine cable project but the residents of Baratang are still waiting for better telecom connectivity.
“Calls from Baratang Jetty BTS through 2G services are stuck, with the audio announcement of congestion in the network. Many people, especially fishermen and laborers who use simple phones are suffering due to the network issues,” MrAlagersamy said.
He demanded a technical team to be deputed to Baratang and ensure their stay at Baratang for rectifying the issues. Mr Alagerswamy also assured necessary logistics and other support from his end for this task.
