Baratang, August 18: Nearly one year back a mobile tower was erected at the Rajat Garh area of Baratang by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited but till now neither wiring works were completed nor the tower has been commissioned. As a result people living in nearby four villages struggle to get mobile network in their area.
As per reports, if the BSNL tower at Rajat Garh is commissioned, it can transform lives in the Rajat Garh, Jarawa Creek, Balu Dera, Rafter Creek, and Khatta Khari villages.
“In several occasions in past we have raised the issue with the Chief General Manager, BSNL, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, but he was never clear to when he is going to start the operation of the tower,” Mr. Alager Swamy, Up- Adhyaksh, North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad told Andaman Sheekha.
“Government is urging students to opt for online teaching. How students will try online teaching, when there is no mobile network in their villages,” he questioned.
The Up- Adhyaksh urged the BSNL to immediately complete the wiring works of the tower and commission the tower as early as possible for the benefit of remote villagers of Rajat Garh, Jarawa Creek, Balu Dera, Rafter Creek, and Khatta Khari.
