Port Blair, August 09: People living inside some containment Zones are now alleging that no efforts are being made from the side of Administration to maintain cleanliness and hygiene inside containment areas.
Residents of some of the areas,that come under the containment zone allege that since the day their area was declared as containment zone, no one came to clean the garbage in their area. One such example is the cremation ground area of Garacharma, South Andaman.
“We are already in deep trouble under the containment zone and such lapses by the authorities are adding to our miseries,” a resident of the Murda Khadia area said.
According to the residents of the area, since 04th August 2020, no PBMC staff entered inside the area to clean the garbage.
“Garbage can be seen dumped along road side and in this condition when the area needs to be given utmost importance to avoid the virus to spread further; it is a serious concern if authorities fail to do so,” said Mr. Paik a resident of the Garacharma containment zone area.
Residents under the containment zone at Dairy Farm, Shore Point, and Haddo have also alleged to be going through a similar kind of situation.
The residents have requested the Lt Governor to instruct the concerned authorities to sanitize their areas and maintain hygiene during this time of the pandemic.
