Mayabunder, July 24: A staff of National Rural Health Mission at Mayabunder has been tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. According to reports, the staff of NRHM was suffering from Fever, Cold, and Cough following which he went for the check-up in the hospital yesterday night.
Immediately after the information of the Corona patient from Dr. RP Hospital, Mayabunder, the District Administration swung into action and admitted the staff of NRHM in the hospital.
As the NRHM staffs manage their show from the District Commissioner Office, Mayabunder, the entire DC Office was sanitized.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the District Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan informed that in spite of a positive case from the office, the office will be operating on usual basis but by following the Standard Operating Procedures strictly.
“Contract tracing is going on and whoever is found to be in contact with the Corona positive staff will be informed to remain under quarantine, the entire Danapur area in Mayabunder region has been already declared as containment zone as the tested COVID-19 patient stay in that particular area,” the DC said.
Dr. Chauhan also appealed to the general public of the area not to pay heed to any rumors, “the administration is all set to fight back against the virus,” Dr. Chauhan added.
Meanwhile, talking to Andaman Sheekha, Dr. Palit, Chief Medical Officer, Dr.RP Hospital Mayabunder said that the RP Hospital has a separate Isolation ward for Corona patients, ventilator and Trunet machines for the treatment.
“I request people to be cautious, use face mask, and maintain social distancing,” Dr. Palit added.
