Port Blair, July 12: Hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Party workers today staged a protest in front of the Police Station CCS and Raj Niwas to express their anger over the move of Andaman and Nicobar Police to summon two senior BJP leaders and also the members of Home Ministry Advisory Council, Mr. Ajay Bairagi and Mr. Vishal Jolly for interrogation in Sagar Dweep Island’s Patwari Attack Issue.
The protest against this action of Police turned so vigorous that the party leaders ended up blaming the Lt Governor and the Chief Secretary for this action of the police department.
However, as hundreds of people gathered in the protest at the time of the Corona impact, all the protesting BJP workers were later detained and they were taken to the Aberdeen Police Station. Later they were released by evening.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Ajay Bairagi backed Mr. Shankar Das, Pradhan Keralapuram and said that Mr. Shankar Das had actually went to Sagar Dweep to calm down the people, who were angry because of encroachment eviction drive during rainy season. He alleged that the Police Department, is harassing BJP leaders while searching for Mr. Shankar Das. “Such small issue has been blown out of proportion,” he added.
Later in the evening when all BJP party workers were released by police , Mr. Ajay Bairagi announced inside PS Aberdeen that from tomorrow there will be massive protests in different places of Andaman against such move of Police and Administration. He said that the party will demand removal of the Chief Secretary and the Lt. Governor.
