Port Blair, July 05: At the call of the joint platform of central trade unions from Delhi, CITU Andaman and Nicobar State Committee organized a protest programme at Port Blair near Crusade House, Phoenix Bay on 3.7.2020 against various anti-working class policies being pursued by the BJP-led central government at the Centre. A number of workers from various Unions participated in the meeting which was organized by observing social distancing and other Covid-19 protocols.
The demands highlighted through the nation-wide Protest Day by the Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions were (i) against the anti- worker draconian changes in labour laws, (ii) against the disinvestment and privatization of public sector undertakings (iii) wages for lockdown period and no job cuts and no wage cuts (iv) to fill up all the vacant sanctioned posts (v) to create new jobs (vi) social security coverage to all (vii) universal ration system to all, etc.
Shri SP Kalairajan, Vice President, CITU State Committee and Shri Anand Rajan, Treasurer, ASNVMS led the programme.
